The rain in Montréal was the kind you want to walk in. It was warm and complete, would drench you in a second, and it felt like you were being given the biggest hug by the whole sky. The great big dollops fell gently, and walking through it was more like wading through a pool; you would hardly even notice when you walked through a puddle. I couldn’t help but smile the whole way from the Mont Royal Metro to the little room I was renting on Rue St-Urbain. If only Vancouver’s skies could borrow its clouds from Montréal…

The Hideaway that is Cape Trib
It was on this drive from the start of the ferry crossing to my stop at Cape Tribulation Camping that I really wished I had someone to share this experience with. At one point, I saw a cassowary along the side of the road and I wanted so badly to tell someone but there was no one around me to share in the excitement.
Beached in Mooloolaba
When my boss told me he had an apartment in Mooloolaba, in my head I pictured a normal apartment like the kind you or I would live in. It probably should’ve rung a bell in my head when Sara told me there would be a cleaning service but I pictured a cute old couple who happened to live in my fictional apartment building that offered cleaning services to the other residents when they were away.
