That’s it for my Best Job in the World application, but it’s not going to be last you see of me! ;)
A *BIG* Thank You also goes out to everyone who has visited my website, voted for my video, sent me messages via Facebook and Twitter, interviewed me on their show, and / or sent me good thoughts and luck! I really REALLY appreciate ALL the support you guys have given me these past few weeks. <3

In 500 Words or Less

Posted by on April 2, 2009 at 4:19 pm.

As part of the application process for the Best Job in the World, Tourism Queensland asked each of the Top 50 candidates to write a short story (300 – 500 words) answering the following:

1. A little about your background, previous employment, family, where you live
2. What is most important to you in life
3. If successful in gaining The Best Job in the World with Tourism Queensland, who will be joining you on your journey to the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef (partner and / or children and tell us a little about them)
4. Anything else you would like to share about yourself
I had wanted to post my “story” on here right after writing it, but Tourism Queensland informed me that applicants should keep their stories to themselves until the reveal of the next shortlist. Now that the cat’s outta the bag, here’s my story. Enjoy! :)

Playing Cards to Pass the Time

Posted by on April 2, 2009 at 2:39 pm.

The *big* announcement of the remaining Top 15 candidates is less than two hours away now. How have I been passing the time? I took out my deck of cards (I’ve had the same deck of pink Little Twin Star cards since I was a kid) and started playing the fortune game.

A Shocking Announcement from Tourism Queensland

Posted by on April 2, 2009 at 12:44 am.

I was making my own little list of who I thought would be chosen for the remaining Top 10 candidates tonight and finding it rather difficult. As it turns out, Tourism Queensland was having a rather hard time with it too! So, in a shocking last minute turn of events, they’ve announced that they will be selecting a FIFTEEN candidates (in addition to Clare — Wild Card Winner) instead of the original ten!! I LOVE IT!! Oh Tourism Queensland, you’re always keeping us on our toes!

One More Drink with My Fellow Vancouverite Candidates

Erik, Marcella and I met up on Friday night to celebrate being in the Top 50 one last time. We decided to go to Steamworks, since that’s where we first met each other on March 3rd. I’ve said this many times before, and I’ll say it again: I couldn’t have asked for better fellow Vancouverite candidates! <3

What Are the Chances?!

What a race! For days I had been trying to move past Gina from Korea on the Wild Card Leaderboard. 206 votes away… 175 votes away… 11 votes away! And then finally two days ago I was ONE vote above her and in the coveted #23 spot!! Oh it was a happy moment. ;)

Fred’s Home :)

I think Fred’s been kinda bummed lately though — ever since he found out I was only #23 on the Wild Card Leaderboard. He looks kinda sad in the picture doesn’t he? You know what might cheer him up? If you clicked HERE and voted for me! ;)

Something Good About Rainy Days: No Line-ups at Japadog!

What’s a Japadog? A Japadog is a hot dog with Japanese toppings like dried seaweed, fish flakes, wasabi mayo, fried cabbage, teriyaki sauce, horseradish, miso-sesame sauce, and green onion. Japadogs are very popular in Vancouver — so much so that they’ve opened a second stand.

Rise and Shine!

It’s 6:26am and still pitch black out, but I’m wide awake and wired like a High School Musical character on crack! Gotta love a mug o’ Starbucks at 2am in the morning (when I woke up).

Testing out Tim Tams

I’m sure Arnott’s sales have gone through the roof since the start of Tourism Queensland’s campaign for the Best Job in the World! There have been so many blog posts about these little chocolate biscuits that I, like many others before me, succumbed to my curiousity and went to London Drugs yesterday to buy some.
