Faz, Me and Mark — I swear Mark doesn’t look this creepy in person. LOL We kept teasing him about his “photo pose”.
Some people say the food, others the art or the culture, and some would even respond with the sights and the sounds, but for me, the best part of travelling is the people. Hands down. No question about it. You could have the best food on earth, but without someone to share it with, it just doesn’t taste the same.
I met both Mark and Faz on the day that I arrived in Brisbane (Saturday) and they both left on the same day (Thursday) too. Mark happened to be on the same flight as me coming in from LAX but we met when we were both trying to figure out how to get to the hostel from the train station. Faz and I met that night because we were sharing the same room for the week.
Together we sampled all sorts of foods including Greek (at the Greek Festival), Malaysian and English pub grub, cuddled koalas, snuggled with kangaroos, spent hours and hours every day walking around town, ran after turkeys, stalked kookaburras, watched / fell asleep to a movie, climbed ginormous ficus trees, posed with street sculptures, danced to unknown tunes at a med school party, cracked open weird foreign fruits at the park (not even the locals knew what they were!), and found out so much about each other in just a few days that it’s like we’ve known each other for much longer. All in all, it was a great time and I hope I meet them again sometime soon. <3
Hi Anny — This is a great post. I enjoyed it so much that I read it again.
